A Message from our Board Chair
True leadership is expressed in service. Since 1951, the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties has been faithfully serving the needs of patients throughout Southern California.
We respect the trust our community has placed in us and we work continuously to ensure the safety and availability of the community blood supply.
Guided by some of the most outstanding medical personnel and research professionals in their fields of expertise, we have made great strides forward to keep pace with our growing population - projected to be more than 5.1 million people by 2020. Yet none of our lifesaving work would be possible without the help of the many individuals who give of themselves and their resources.
These include:
- the volunteer blood donors who generously give the gift of life at our donor centers and community blood drives;
- the blood drive chairpersons who share our lifesaving message and encourage others to give the gift of life;
- the community and professional volunteers who contribute their time and their talent to Blood Bank projects and events;
- the dedicated health professionals at the hospitals and clinics throughout our two-county region;
- the community members and organizations that give of their intellectual and financial support;
- the more than 360 devoted, professional staff members committed to the Blood Bank's values and mission; and,
- all who share the lifesaving message about blood and marrow donation.
The needs of our growing community are great, but together we can do mighty things. If you are already involved with the Blood Bank, I sincerely thank you and applaud your efforts. If you are just getting to know us, I encourage you to get involved and become a member of a truly lifesaving team.
I and my fellow members who serve on the Board of Trustees are honored to lend our time, advice and counsel to furthering the mission, vision and values of the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. We invite you to get involved. You just might be the lifesaving difference in someone's life.

A Message from our CEO
Since beginning my service to the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties in 2004, I have become ever-more confident that we are well suited to face the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. More importantly, we are excited at the mission we have to provide all the blood and marrow services that members of our communities need. It is our pledge, our vision, to bring health and hope to as many lives as we can touch that has guided the Blood Bank through more than fifty-five years of success and to our current position of leadership in healthcare.
We cannot do it alone. Our mission, "We help save lives by connecting donors and patients through the gift of blood," can only be achieved with your support and commitment to our programs. In addition to the more than 400 donations of blood that we must have every single day, your financial support is vital to the continuation of our important work. Each and every gift allows the Blood Bank to realize its vision and fulfill our mission to the communities we proudly serve.
We are grateful for your support and commitment to saving lives.

We Live to Serve so That Others May Live
The truth is that more than 400 donations of lifesaving blood are needed each day to meet emergency and ongoing patient needs in Southern California. In fact, every 3 to 4 seconds of every day, someone needs a blood transfusion.
That's where you come in.
If you are a healthy person (with no infections or illness and no history of Hepatitis from age 11 or older), at least 17 years of age (16 years with a signed Blood Bank parental consent) and weigh at least 110 pounds, we need you!
